There is a song by Ingrid Michaelson that I have always loved called Breakable.
The lyrics talk about how we are fragile and how only a few breakable bones are what protect our hearts.
Isn't it incredible how strong and yet how fragile the human body is?
Take my brother for example. He is soooo strong. He is 17 and an amazing athelete. He was expected to go far in wrestling this year- a definate all-star for the team, region and perhaps state. A few days ago, he was at a region tournament. He picked his opponent up, they rolled over, and as they rolled, his opponent's head came down hard on his----crushing his jawbone in the process.
This morning he has to go to the hospital and have a pretty intense surgery to reconstruct his jaw, put in a plate and wire his jaw shut.
It's a definate eye opener for me. No matter how strong we are (or in my case, pretend to be) we are all so fragile and rely on our Father in Heaven every breathing second. Life, our health and our bodies are way too miraculous and fragile to take for granted.

that has to be so hard!! was it his senior year? Is he okay? How did surgery go?
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry Emily. I hope he recovers well. Best wishes to him and your family.
